Irish Vintage Scene: Check out the June issue of the Irish Vintage Scene magazine, which has a full page article on Castledermot Threshing & Vintage Day.  It also has a lovely article on David Sixsmith, who passed away in March 2009.

Castledermot Vintage Club would like to extend their sympathies to the family of David Sixsmith, who recently passed away after a long illness.  David was always a great supporter of Castledermot Vintage Club.  He will be remembered fondly by Castledermot Vintage Club.  May he rest in peace.

Castledermot Wild West Night - Congratulations to Kevin John Doody who claimed the title of Best Dressed on the night, and to Leila Griffin who won the Rodeo Bull Competition, beating all others by far.  A great night was had by all and funds were raised for this year's threshing day which takes place on Sunday, 27th September 2009. Castledermot Vintage Club member now in possession of a pair of John Fowler Steam Ploughing Engines:

Congratulations to club member, Joe Fennelly, who now has in his proud possesssion twin John Fowler Steam Ploughing Engines.  We are all eagerly awaiting the appearance  of NR1212 and NR1213 at our next Annual Threshing & Vintage Working Day in September 2009, where they are sure to be a star attraction.

These engines were made on the 21st July 1871, and previously belonged to the firm, Beeby Brothers. They are the oldest matching pair of steam engines the Beeby Bros ever owned.

The twins - NR1212 & NR1213

Below are some photos of their first journey in Ireland.
